Ok, I know, there's already been speculation on this...but does anyone actually know if the band have even the vaguest of plans to tour Europe anytime in the near future?
It's just that if they don't, then I may well have to fly over from the UK to one of the East Coast dates this winter...although I don't know how I'm gonna afford the air fare. hmmm...

Hey Algo5 - good to see someone else from the UK on here. We are few.
As far as I know, there is no official word of a european tour but I am holding out hope. And though people keep quoting Mike's comment on the DVD, well that was recorded over a year and a half ago. The band was hard pushed to leave SoCal at that time so sure europe wasn't likely. But now with this big US tour till Christmas and the likelyhood of them touring through 2005, there must be a chance they will be over in the spring. Fingers crossed. Though I wouldn't hold up much hope of more than a couple of UK dates, but there should be plenty in Germany as they seem to have a fairly big Fanbase over there.

I haven't heard of an european tour. From the Live DVD interviews, its obivious, the Band likes to stay at home in CA as much as possible. They dont really like touring. He even told someone on the interview they were asking him about a european tour, and he asked how much air fare was from germany to la, he said not much, so he todl the guy to just come out to LA to see em. lol.

Well I hope that they haven't forget us. If you have a look at the last tours, with both sony albums, they had a US tour and then they played here in the EU for a month or two. That's enough to play some gigs here and the duration is no longer than a big tour in the states, they leaved right now so "SoCal only" is no argument. Mike has a stupid way to play a liar, he mentioned also on LIOC that the album comes out in summer 2003. And what happened? There's also the possibility that he didn't mean the future but the last years with their only Socal concerts. There is also the fact with John Maurer who leaved because the touring problem and a Mr.Ness who told us for the last 5 years, I think he mentioned it december 02 the last time, that they will tour in the EU with the new record out. Let us hope.

JGoaten> Likewise! It's weird how Social D have never really taken off on our side of the Atlantic. Occasionally I see other people wearing SD shirts/patches at shows, but it's kinda rare. Alas, i only discovered them about 5 years ago, and i don't think they've played UK shores since 1997? But yeah, i'll be keeping my fingers crossed...
Python423> hmm, i don't know how much the LIOC interview guy considers as "not much" money, but the cheapest flight to Boston I could find on the internet was about ?250 (roughly $450-$500, i think)! bit expensive for just one show...if they did make it to Europe I could use that money to follow them around
